I just purchased a used 2004 Chalet Arrowhead and on our first trip I noticed that there's a bit of a gap between the roof and the wall on 2 of the 4 vertical lines of the roof. I emailed Chalet and they sent me a $75 part to purchase, but I'm not sure that the gasket is the issue here. We didn't experience any leaking even though it rained a bit while we were camping this past weekend. Note that the gap disappears as you get higher up towards the roof. This is the case for the opposite corner as well.

I'm wondering if there's a trick or something I need to to to better secure the wall and the roof, or if this kind of gap is fine and there's nothing to worry about. Let me know your thoughts based on the picture. Thanks!

If you see light you will probably see water in a driving rain. Also could make a good mosquito entry.

That's common with A-frames. Just get some soft foam insulation strips from a big box store to fill the gaps. Oh, welcome to the Portal from South Carolina.

finding the right insulation is a quest. For the location u show, the thick insulation needs to be stuck to the tilt up wall, if its on the inside lip of the roof it can get scraped off when u close the roof. u can try a thinner piece on the roof edge.

or not , u need to experiment.

the gaps on both sides of the roof may not be equal and they
    may not be constant width.

getting all this right is on my to do list, and I have been avoiding it.

Along with the other suggestions offered, check and make sure your camper is level. Gaps can occur if your level is off.

The stuck in place weather stripping needs to be renewed every few years. Replace with closed cell foam stuff from hardware stores.

We use our Chalet Arrowhead well into the fall for hunting. Found it to be a bit drafty. Solution was small diameter pool noodles pressed into the gap from the inside. Ta Da! A $5 fix!

    Welcome to the Aframe family.

It’s not uncommon to find a small gaps between the roof and side walls. As the others (Workerbee, Sleach, Yacoma99, & Anthony Hitchings) have said, it’s can be one or different items occurring.

We keep strips off pool noodles in our Aliner to stop against gaps, drafts, and or bugs. We are waiting for the weather to cool down this early winter to replace the weather stripping.

    Happy Camping...[ALPU][PUT]
