A few weeks ago we bought our second popup, a 2000 Camplite 2206 and we are going on a 4 day trip from Miami to Hillsborough River State Park (about 4.5 drive). My wife changed the curtains and the valance (see pictures). I did a deep cleaning and tested everything. I am trying to remove the decals but we leave the day after tomorrow and may not have time. I am right at the towing capacity of the Tv but this is south florida and there are no hills and I will not drive faster than 65 miles per hour. Either way I am super exited to join a group of friends and spend 4 days with the family.
Looks great! I'm excited for you. Take lots of pics on your trip for our northern friends. Something I didn't do on our last two camp outs, but wish I would have.
Love the curtains. Trailer looks great too. Enjoy and half fun and yes, we northerners need pictures so we can get our camping fix.
You are correct; The truck in the picture is not the TV. I will be towing with a 2012 Ford Explorer Limited.
You'll have no problem with that TV. Hillsborough is fun, I like that park. Rapids in FL, who knew?? Enjoy your trip. Have you been there before?
Yes if the Explorer has tow package, it can tow up to 5k lbs. If not, the tow limit would be 2k Lbs, because of the TOW button to control the OD. I think all Explorer Limited has tow package so you should be fine! Enjoy your trips!
I sure didn't! And without this thread, I may have never knew. Looking at reservations now to check this out for myself. The only moving water I've seen (other than waves,) in the ten years we've lived here is a little waterfall and stream right up the road from us - Our local water usually involves more of this -
Yeah, it's pretty cool, but they don't really let you swim in it which kind of stinks. I think there's gators in the area. But I did enjoy the park when I was there. They have a reconstructed fort there that they give tours of on the weekends. Disney helped reconstruct it back in the day so they could film old westerns and what not. It's a pretty impressive structure and some cool history that comes with it. Park is also a good location to hit up the sights in Tampa as well.
That kind of surprises me that they don't allow swimming. I have seen people actively swimming with alligators in quite a few state parks. They have the "Swim at you own Risk" and "Alligators Present" signs up, but people will jump right in. I would love to tour the fort. That is one of my favorite parts of Fort Clinch, which or "go to" place and FL favorite. They have a cool fort you can go explore, or take the tour. In the summer, they can candlelight tours, which are a bit creepy.
We are fully enjoying the new pup and the park. The weather has been perfect (55 deg at night and 70 deg during the day). The wife and kids Enjoyed not having to go to the public restroom in the middle of the night. The friends that we are camping with are all having a blast. Enjoy these pictures.
Nice pup! I have got to move south. Green with envy. This is the hard part of the year for us as we look out the window at a pile of snow.... One day....
