Driving along U.S. 191. Any thoughts?

Good morning, I hope this note finds you and your families well.
My good wife and I are planning a trip starting in Chicago, going to Grand Teton NP, then to drive down U.S. 191 to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Then down to Cave Creek AZ. to visit family. Returning on Interstates back home to Chicago. We would like to drive no more than 5 or 6 hours a day, because you need the time to setup camp in the afternoon and break camp in the morning, and doing the cooking and clean up. We are not restricted by time. Just need a little help from an experienced hand as far as good camping along 191.
God's Blessings

We would be camping in June and early July. We wouldn't need hookups as long as night time temps are cool enough to sleep, and even then we have a small generator if needed. I really don't think we would need it till we got in the desert.
Then I already know where we are going to stay in Cave Creek Az.
Thanks for your help.

If it fits your itinerary hit the Swinging Steak for dinner, just south of Mexican Hat monument, there's also Gooseneck there as well. From a friends description there is camping but I don't know about hookups.. I'd guess not.

Enjoy your trip.. I did PA to YNP down to GCNP last mid May to mid June. Snow in Grand Teton's and sunburn in UT/AZ.

Slide Rock - the one close to Sedona - won't that be very busy (booked out?)
Book early; if it's already full, check back every so often and see if there are cancellations.
I've gotten some great sites when people cancelled at the last minute.

That road was under construction a few months ago, btw. We took the interstate after sitting in traffic on it the first run through. Check with AZ DOT about construction....
