Grand View RV Park is located on the Glenn Highway just east of the Matanuska Glacier park. They have gravel pads that are mostly level with a table, a grass island, water, power pole and sewer connection. Some sites are electric/water only, and there are a couple of tent sites. The showers are nice and clean, but it will cost you 12 quarters to take a shower. They are arranged like little bathrooms with a sink, toilet and shower stall in each room. There are currently three of those little rooms, but they are working on adding another two rooms in the laundry facility, which is next door to the restroom building. There is also a cafe on the property that serves as the office as well. They serve a very tasty pizza, and standard fare. They make good coffee and espresso as well. Now, here's the rub: they're basically just off the highway. That's not unusual around here though. It is a step up from the typical gravel parking lot sites so common around here. The bad part is there's just not a lot to DO at the campground. They have horseshoes and a nice little trail to a bluff where you can look over the Matanuska Glacier, and you can often see Dalls Sheep on the mountain across the highway... but that's about it. There are no trails or attractions within walking distance of the CG. To do the stuff in the area, you'll need to be able to drive... I doubt there's a taxi out there at all. All in all, it's probably a great overnight stop, but not a great destination stop. If you were doing the glacier later in the day, and didn't feel like driving on, this would be a nice place to stop. Two nights was more than enough for me, but not because the place was bad, there was just nothing to do.
