I was in the paint isle at Walmart and noticed a gallon of Rustoluem elastomeric roof coating. I purchased one gallon and I was able to get 5 coats on and I still have 1/4 left.

spreads nice and dries extremely fast in low humidity. This morning I woke up and the dew was a nice bead. Tilted the pop up and water ran off.

I was also able to get this in all the seams nicely, so less caulk now. Just thought I would share the info., at 20 bucks a gallon you can’t beat it. It also filled in some pinholes nicely.

Looks good. When I saw the headline on this thread I was afraid it was going to be about FlexSeal. Glad to see you didn't go down that road. ;)

I actually used flex seal on my roof last week and it turned out great. A bit tough to spread but it gave good coverage and a nice finish. Has good reviews.

Yes, I did some research before hand and a few buddies said to stay away from that. My other choice was going to be Kool Seal but this saved me a few bucks.

    time will tell!

Did you use a roller or brush?

Also, what is the story with Flex Seal?

FlexSeal doesn't hold up to the elements. Most FS products state on the label for temporary fix only, or words to that effect.

My roof is just like yours. What did you use to tape over the centerline trim?

Looks like Eterabond. If it’s not, Eternabond will work. There are several threads on here about it. My local RV Shop has by the foot it in a couple three different widths. It’s also available by the roll. I’d guess it’s Amazonable too.

Is the paint on sealer used instead of caulking? Or should I caulk and then seal?

I would caulk then seal. Looking at the photos, the original poster looks to have laid Eternabond down over the center trim then put on the coating over the whole affair. Either approach IMHO should work. I’d have to read up on elastomeric coating sticking to Eternabond to confirm.

If you do it let us know how it works out!

What would one use for primer under this elastomeric coating? or would you just rough up the original paint with a sander and apply this right on top of it?

I have been thinking about re-sealing my Viking roof for weeks now. So this thread is very informative. I would still like to know how it was applied (brush or roller), and what do you do to the surface before application? This just might be my next project for the coming weekend!
