Has anyone replaced the vinyl on the flip down step?

Pretty self explanatory. We've got a lot of discoloration on our vinyl step. 1998 Coleman. It's weird as it seems to come and go a bit, depending on whether it's in use with the sun beating on it, or in the up/stored position. When stored it gets brown all over it. Washing it does nothing, but the sun seems to bleach it back out.

Anyway, I'm thinking of replacing the entire floor and the step as well. The step looks complicated with riveted side panels. Anyone done it?

Yes, but we didn't take it all apart. We just cut out the vinyl and glued new floor tiles to it.

That sounds like the right plan.

Which means I will take it all apart, have it take three weeks and probably completely screw it up.

    [LOL][LOL][LOL]

I'll go take a picture of ours, that we didn't take apart. The only thing that drives me crazy is that DH didn't lay the tile with the patterns in the right direction. He's lucky it's on the outside.

It looks like we took it apart, but we didn't. So don't waste your time doing that. Once we cut the old vinyl and pulled it out, the new tiles slipped under the black lip. They are flush with the metal on the front.

It's great! I love having a large, sturdy step. It's the wall of the camper when closed.

That’s interesting, my stepper door has like some sort of grippy tape that looks factory on mine (think skateboard tape but heavier duty). It’s far less slippery when it gets wet. Cosmetically may not look too appealing, but practicality purposes I think it is better. I also bought an outdoor mat to keep on the step when in use to prevent the dirt from working into the camper.
