Has your state tentatively posted when parks will open back up?

Ohio has again move the state park camping out to June 1, This is the third date they have given us. Not sure it will ever be opened.

You're not alone..........Opening dates and exactly what will open are moving targets in PA also.
I lease a mooring space at a state park, essentially a wood post you can chain a kayak , canoe, or small boat to. The season is typically from April 1 to October 31. This year the date I could take my canoe up and chain it to a wood post, essentially in a field along the shore, with no one around was first moved to April 10, then the 24th, finally May 8th. I sure don't know what letting someone not chain a canoe to a post solves regarding Covid 19. At the same time when they announced the opening day of trout season early, it was supposed to be April 18th but they opened the season on April 7 with no prior notice due to Covid, I could of hauled the canoe or yak up there to the same state park on my truck, launched it and fished, but could not chain it to the post and leave it there. I would of had to load it back up and bring it home.
Does that make any sense whatsoever?

As far as PA state parks some are apparently reopening May 15 in 24 select counties all in northwest and north central PA. Supposedly, according to press releases overs the last few days from the Reich Minister of propaganda speaking for Herr Governor Tom (Hitler) Wolf, another group of counties will be directed to start reopening which will result in more state park campgrounds reopening on May 21'st. That announcement is expected today, so time will tell.

Now I scratch my head when I read statements such as the following.....
"Tomorrow, there will be an announcement of additional counties moving to the yellow phase at a to-be-determined date."

To be determined date?????? So what is there to announce if there is no date?

What I don't get about PA is the private CG's have been opened. Now I believe the bathrooms are closed, you must be self contained, and it's ever other CS. My experience is private CG CS's 's are much closer. It just does not make sense why larger CS's can not do the same things as private CG's. But for me politicians never have made sense.

Well I'm headed out of state for 5 days on 5/24. At least for us it's has not been 6+ months since the last time out. We spent 5.5 weeks in Texas, so its only been 2.5 months.

None of the NF here have been closed.
Dispersed camping only.
That's good WVhillbilly. Here in NC, everything is closed. Some private campgrounds were opening ahead of MORON PHASE One. NF closed. And the NC State Parks...

"Camping will be restricted and enforced to include - no day visitors permitted, beach areas closed, boat ramps closed, no 24-hour access and gate hours enforced. Shower houses are available, but comfort stations will be closed." - Director of NC State Parks, Dwayne Patterson

You have to place a reservation to camp. If you reserve a camp spot, it may be cancelled. Most camp areas are still closed.

This process in place until August, or until the mood strikes Dwayne Patterson to change it.

In NJ it seems that the CGs are under the same rule of shore rentals. 21 days or less is considered a short term rental. Now the date is June 1st. We have reservations for June 19-22. I hope they are open. Beachcomber camping resort in Cape May just opened up to the seasonal renters, so short term should not be to far behind...fingers crossed.

I know of several nice campgrounds in TN that are open. How far are you from Tellico Plains?

We camp in TN too :) Right now the fear factor may be restricting travel between states. Read stories of RVers unable to get service, tire repair or replace, mechanical work - in some areas because of fear of strangers.

I don't believe this will be true of TN, Pigeon Forge - Dolly World and a ton of other businesses are going to need travelers. So I hope TN is welcoming to it's neighbors in NC :)

And for what it is worth TN :) You may have a lot of NC folk heading your way, if we are welcome. Dwayne Patterson, Director of NC State Parks and Recreation, is a lifetime bureaucrat. He has no experience or background in natural resources, parks, forestry or anything related to park management. Patterson was appointed the job, and is utilizing the opportunity to climb the bureaucrat ladder. Simply put, he could give two craps less about camping, hiking, fishing and outdoor recreation - thus the bizarre closing and extended shutdown of NC Parks.

Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the rest of TN could have a great year of tourism and camping from us locked down folks in North Carolina :)

Hopefully I'll be in TN next weekend.
On two wheels, but I'm wearing a full face helmet so that should qualify as a mask.

Right?

I think it does. I just hope your helmet is not one of those ones that look like a WWII Wehrmacht helmet, would hate to see you offend someone with thin skin down in TN. [;{}] Does it have HEPA filtration?[LOL]

For those interested in PA parks and campground openings. They have finally put up a site at DCNR that actually has some dates, yet still some open endedness. You click the county the park is in. I assume you have to take it along with the state map of what counties are in what phase since they indicate the DCNR will follow the state phased plan. An example. Somerset county was just announced yesterday as moving from red to yellow phase on May 15, and they show state park campgrounds in Somerset opening May 22 with an actual date posted.

Out east, Pike County is still in red phase and they have not made any indication of when it will move to yellow. When you click on Pike county on the DCNR map it lists Promised Land state park campgrounds as closed but if you go to the park specific site it seems to indicate campground opening as May 22. Knowing how the state and DCNR operate that could mean one of two things. They already know Wolf will announce on May 15 Pike is going red to yellow on May 22, or they're just playing it by ear in case he does and if not will then just cancel reservations and not open.

That is the problem I have with the entire PA response to this. Its not so much the closures and edicts, their constitutionality non withstanding, it's the damn typical PA policy of everything having to be privileged information administered by some super secret squirrel policy, keeping folks in the dark to the last minute.

Virginia private campgrounds to be open next week from what I understand...Gov said last week "We closed down as a state, we'll open as a state"...the reasoning being NOVA/Tidewater/Richmond (extreme high virus concentration) may migrate to southwestern & southern Va & bring it w/ 'em...state parks still on lockdown til June 10th...talked to a pal that's a camp host at a local state park, they're allowed to remain; he said a traveling out of stater opened an unlocked gate bout 9 pm, pulled into an electric site & started setting up. Dude told him the park was closed, the other dude told 'em the gate was unlocked, & that he'd leave in the morning...they let him fill up his water then sent him on his way. SOME small businesses will be allowed to open next Friday; apparently masks only work in crowded cluster bangs like Wally Wild & Kroger, not in smaller establishments...Camp Asphalt remains open here at home...

Thought I would add the link to the info you described..

Surprises me that restrooms will be open. Either way, i gotta get in the woods for a bit. Hoping the weather is decent enough.

Getting stir crazy and ready to camp. Have you heard any good news about when campgrounds are due to open in your area?
We have ressies at a private CG in Indiana for the first week of June... The owners said they were still getting contacted for meetings and there's much that was still up in the air.

As it stands NOW, target date for Virginia state park overnight camping is Friday 5-22-2020, appears cabins/shelters etc still closed until 6-10...

Good Luck. As it stands right now it looks like we'll be heading to the campground in PA 5-22 also. I wonder if it will still be the typical crazy crowded Memorial day weekend with the current events going on? A lot of folks off work for weeks and a lot who may not have a job to go back to, and what appears to be quite a few skeered of this virus. Shortages of meat, toilet paper, cleaning products, and who knows what else.

I guess the folks who ran out the weekend of 3-13 and bought 651 rolls of TP and 925 cans of Pork and Beans are not worried. They might need a camping break to get over the stress of pondering what they are going to do with all those Pork and Beans before they rust through the cans.

I watched a guy in Lowes early this morning buying PVC electrical fittings. He had a can of Clorox wipes and was wiping off every single fitting before putting it in his cart. Looked like overkill to me. He did not have any gloves on so I wonder how good that worked.

even if the campgrounds open memorial day weekend, we will still be wearing masks, and wiping down everything at the dump station for sure!

Still waiting here in NM. The private campground we have a Sisters on the Fly event scheduled in for mid-June, under current rules, is at 20% capacity, and no restrooms or showers open. We will see if the official event happens, and who we handle limitations (no potlucks, etc.). One of the Sisters checked on the status last week, and the campground folks said to just hang on to plans, they wouldn't be charging cancellation fees, and things could change a lot in the next month.

Seems we'll be sneaking down a NFS logging road and go camping. The camper needs some minor work but at least we got it back. No bathrooms to wipe down or masks will be worn. [LOL] Anyone care to join us???
