Has your state tentatively posted when parks will open back up?

A smallish (35 sites w/hookups) county campground next to Lake Ontario opened here in upstate NY last week, self contained only. I took the 10 mile ride to check on it and there were port-a-potties next to the bathrooms. So I am not sure how self contained you have to be. No restrictions on PUP's that I am aware of. Looking to get there in June. No word on state park campgrounds, although beaches at state parks are supposed to open mid-June, maybe campgrounds aren't far behind.

We go to Roger's Rock on Lake George every August for a family reunion. We're all waiting with our fingers crossed they open up before then. When the closures started in March, I never thought that trip could be cancelled. Now ‍who knows

Getting very frustrated over here in WI... Originally, state park campgrounds were closed through April 24th. That got extended out to May 26th. On Friday they extended the closure yet again, through June 7th. Private campgrounds are open. State Parks are open to day use with no rest rooms. I can’t make sense of this. I have now lost three reservations and have cancelled two “vacations” from work. What is another 12 days going to solve???
Edit: Thanks for letting me vent just a little... I have been very careful not to get involved with Covid discussions too much but need a little relief!

We took a ride yesterday to a couple NYS Parks along Lake Ontario and neither campground was open. The parks were open for day use only, as well as the boat launch. We asked at the second park about the campground and the guy at the gate didn't know, but figured possibly by June 1st. idk.
We couldn't even drive around the empty campground b/c they had the road blocked.
This whole thing is getting ridiculous. imho.

All I can think of is, the whole opening announcement must have caught the park personnel by surprise and they are waiting for guidelines from the Governor's office before they can actually open. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

All seems normal here in PA at a state park campground other than the lake swimming was closed but evidently not enforced, and the playgrounds had big red closed signs but kids rebelled Sunday afternoon and over ran them. No enforcement was witnessed.

I am surprised the WV campgrounds are like that. A few weeks ago a coworker and I walked into a Sheetz in Morgantown donning our highly fashionable masks and were looked at like we were morons by the 20 or so other customers and workers who were not wearing any.

I'm all in for some good ole mall camping. Is that like Walmart camping?

I ran out to a Pa state forest last week (4 days), waited till the week after opening weekend and headed home on sunday am. Friday the traffic picked up in the small mountain towns and the popular nearby state park had plenty of tenters.. all spaced out evenly and may have been near capacity.

Ranger checked in on me saturday, mentioned he's been real busy during the closure writing violations, mostly from locals. I didnt dig deeper.. but i'm betting ATV use and unpermitted firewood harvesting.

In towns everyone wore masks except one bozo in a fuel stop.

Looking to head out again soon for some fly fishing..

I don't know why this shocks me, but it does. I wouldn't have thought people would have the nerve to be on closed, public lands. Maybe teenagers?

Shockingly, in our area of northern Florida, we rarely see anyone with a mask. My family wears them, but I feel self conscience about it since nobody else does. Florida is a hard hit state, but nobody is cooperating.

We live in an area where there are many natural springs. Most are government owned and managed. There is still one under private ownership. I'm going to link to a video to what went on there this past weekend. Social distancing went WAY out the window.

The lands were still legal to travel, dirt roads connecting small towns and villages. Active logging in parts of the forest as well. Along parts of these roads are hunt/fish camps and vacation homes. I do believe the issue was ATV usage and firewood collection.. you can obtain a permit to harvest up to 2 cords per 30 day period for a very small fee.. $10 for the last one i pulled IIRC, downed trees only.

I moved to Florida after my discharge from the military, lasted about 11 months. I returned home when my younger sister was about to have the first baby in our family in early 80's, found i didnt do well working construction outdoors in high humidity and returned only to take wife to Disney.. lol

Unfortunately there are gatherings all over the country like the one you shared, it's only going to create future spikes and outbreaks.. how could it not. I get the right to assemble and all that, but use some common sense people..

Me neither! It's ridiculous because even trying to kayak the river, when you get to Ginnie Springs area, it's a roadblock of wall to wall drunks on floats and you literally have to push your way through them all. One time there was a drunk woman with a little child of about 2 years old on a raft. No signal for 911, but you bet they got called as soon as we had signal.

Oh yeah, that's a long time ago. It's a menace now. Someone goes missing there/drowns every year. One young man already gone just from Memorial Day weekend, and we've just begun the year. Alcohol and swimming don't mix well. It's very sad. I'm always shocked that people take their children into that mess. Not many, but some do. You can even see them in the video, in the middle of all that foolishness.
