Welcome! I love Amarillo. Have been there many times starting with the NHRA World Finals and points races back in the 70's. I also do a lot of varmint shooting and that is where the PD towns start. I have been to several Jeep Jamborees at Pala Dura Canyon hosted by the Jeep Exclusive Club and all of those started out breakfast at Cowboy Morning on the rim which I highly recommend for anyone that's going to be in the area. Way better than breakfast at Denney's or Mickey D's. as a matter of fact Amarillo started me on several changes in my life. Drag Racing. Jeep Jamborees and Dutch oven cooking. Amarillo is 546 from here. The only problem is the cold there for me. I know you people think it is cold where you live but there is nothing between Amarillo and the North Pole except a couple of barbed wire fences and 1/2 of them are blown down. I got caught in one of those blue northers late in Oct. one year we left Dumas in snow flurries. The wind was blowing so hard on 287 that had to hold about a 1/4 crank in the wheel to stay on the road. We would switch drivers about every 30 minutes because our arms would get tired. 287 runs E/SE thru there. We found a hog back road that ran almost due south and out ran the norther about Waco what a trip.
