The wife and I just purchased our first camper and are very excited to start exploring with our friends and family! We decided to purchase a '17 Somerset Evolution E3 with the front deck. I've heard great things about the build quality while lurking on this forum and felt it was the right choice for us. I also like the fact that it appears to be semi-off-road worthy, so a little river bed trek should be just fine. I have a ton of mods I want to do with this thing... Hard line grey water drain, solar panels, and kayak/canoe racks to name a few. I've already begun and will be looking around on this forum to get suggestions or new ideas. Looking forward to the adventure!
Welcome from N/W Fl panhandle. Congrats on the Somerset and to camping with all the amenities. Good Luck and happy camping
Hello fellow Californian. I'm out here on the Mojave Desert. You are going to do what I did. I added a lot of extras to my Viking 1906. I even installed electric brakes. I think your camper is more rugged than mine. If I take mine off road I just have to be careful. Where are you in California?
I'm over in El Dorado county. I'm hoping to be able to visit some of my go to BLM spots in Mendocino county with it. Some of the river beds have easy access. Hopefully it will do fine out there.
Hey! Any tips and tricks I should look into? I never got a wiring diagram, do you know where to find one?
Welcome from Georgia! There's a ton of info about wiring and all the little things on the site. As late a model as you have, though, I'll bet the manufacturer can set you up with any documentation you're missing.
I'm not too far from you in Placer County. Welcome! I redid my torsion axle to a 3,500# spring and raised it 11" so my 2409 looks like a off-road trailer now and I can take it anywhere.
They don’t supply one. But it’s fairly straightforward. Read the section in the manual about how to change a tire on a camper that you can take off road into the wilderness. You’ll have a good laugh. But it really is a great camper. “You choose wisely”
