Hello -

Mark McConnell here, just joined this forum although I've been the owner of a 1999 StarCraft Spacemaster for a few years.

I look forward to chating on the forums as I start to fix-up my pop-up.

Mark, may I inquire about your Dry electrical ? What you use , How long it typically lasts for if applicable , etc ? If you even use batteries.. I'm deadly afraid of using the propane as It's a terrible story just waiting to happen.

Hi Mike -

We do have a marine style deep cycle battery; however, being new to campers when I bought it, it wasn't well maintained. I think I need to buy a proper battery charger and see if there is anything worth trying to salvage there. On the positive side, its only been used a handful of times.

Typically we run the refrigerator on electric while we're traveling, but to be transparent, we've only gone within about an hour or so of our house so far. The reason I joined this forum, is to get some ideas and have some support as I start to fix-up our PUP.

In a couple of years, I would like to take my son for extended trips to see different parts of this as well as possibly other countries. My wife isn't a huge camper and I thought this might be a good activity for the two of us to enjoy together.

Sorry, I know this isn't quite what you were looking for, but I'm happy to share more as I use the electrical "off grid" soon. I'd like to look into solar as well ...

Well , I'm about to test out a new battery configuration that I HOPE will give me about 10 to 14 days of battery power for lights and fans at night.. Our fridge or chiller or icebox depending on where you are from , when and if we use it we run it using propane .. But typically we use Dry Ice for all meats and frozens and Ice for Milk, cream and such. If you're interested I leave Friday and back in 10 to 14 days I can let you know how the new batteries worked.

I'm just down the road Rochester, MN! Good to meet you!
LOL! I actually hesitated before I added the "from Minnesota" part of my greeting because I was thinking, "If this guy is from Minnesota it would sound goofy because he was just down the road." I added it anyways after I saw your location was missing from your info thinking "what's the chance he is from Minnesota?".

It turns out you ARE just down the road, and it does sound goofy. [LOL][LOL]

I was just down your way when I was at Mayo last month bringing #1 grandson in for a post-surgery (wrist bone transplant) checkup.
