had the popup out last weekend and every thing worked, pop up both up and down, yesterday went to raise the roof and it just spins the crank, i have a 2005 fleetwood bayliner, i watched some youtube videos and seams the problem is ratchet
or spring behind the rear panel, in order to get the back panel off i need to raise the roof about a foot to drill out rivets that are on top and remove bolts on bottom, question is how to raise the roof to do this, i could not find anything online to do this, could i get four people and just lift up all 4 corners

I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure you can. I can’t imagine you’d hurt anything if you try this, just obviously don’t force anything. I think it’s also possible for one person to lift one corner slightly, prop it up with something, repeat with the other three corners, and eventually work all four up to the height you need. Again, just don’t force anything, and I think you’ll be safe.

Good luck!

my son and i tryed to lift up on the the back corners of the roof and it didn't seem to budge, so i guess the next thing is to pull the whiffletree cover and try that, thanks

Here's an excellent video I used to rebuild my upper lift system:

The parts were back ordered. (supply chain) Everything went together well. I did have to file the center weld in the tube in order for parts to fit smoothly. Everything works well now.

Yes, you can lift the roof by manualy lifting the 4 corners, but you have to be very careful to not damage the lift cables. When the roof is manually lifted, the lift cables will go slack and they can get caught on interference items and fall out of the pulley groove on one or more pulleys. When you then try to lower the roof manually (or turn the crank to remove the lift cable slack, it can severely damage the lift cables if you're not making sure the lift cables are clear of interference and correctly on the pulleys.

fixed, took off the whiffletree cover and inspected and found nothing wrong, next took off cover for lower sprocket and roll pin fell out, spread out roll pin for tighter fit, lube up whiffletree gear and put covers back on, works like a charm, now to plan next trip
Sounds good! I don't have a Whiffletree system, but I've heard that there is a friction clutch affair in there somewhere that can get contaminaded with too much lube. I think if that happens, the top won't stay up. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.
