My hot water heater will not light and when I push in the control button to light my pilot water leaks around the button and no gas is going to the pilot.

Is there a seal in there that I can replace or do I need a new control valve?
It does not have a electric initiator
    Thank you 20180403_130906.jpg

Are you sure it isn't condensation or moisture from water intrusion somehow that you are seeing. Or possibly moisture from the propane tank itself? You might try another tank which has been verified to be full (of propane). I can't think of any reason why or how water could be coming from inside the water heater and getting into the gas valve.

I'm really not sure about anything but I did try a brand new tank. No other water leaking around that area.
I did just find out that my main propane regulator is shot.
So I'm going to start there and work my way back to the water heater.

You are talking about the button you push in and hold for the gas flow, not a piezo igniter button? If yes your gas valve appears to have a dangerous leak, if water can get through lp certainly can.

While changing the regulator you should disconnect all of your lp appliances and blow out the lines with compressed air.

I just pulled the regulater and old hoses off and will clean everything out tomorrow.
    Now just waiting on parts.

While I wait I need to get the battery system up and running.

I don't even want to get involved in this leaking business. Sounds dangerous, so just going to make a statement for after you get that figured out - Water tanks take a long time to light. Sometimes it takes literally several minutes for ours. Just one more reason I switched it over to electric.

    I'm with u on that.
At this point I don't feel comfortable messing with the hot water heater so I'm just going to cut off the gas to it and wait to have someone that knows what they r doing look at it.
I honestly don't need hot water since I have a microwave and stove. There is no shower so I really don't see the need to address that issue at this time.
I'm just trying to make sure it's safe for my family. And with my boys it's just one less thing they can break. :)

You can always convert it to elect using a Hot Rod. Your anode rod gets replaced with heated rod.

Sorry about that. Good thing it didnt take you to another site. I installed one my 05 Victory. Located the electrical outlet inside the front trunk. Wired to available 110v spot with 15 amp breaker. Never had any issues.
