Hunting Island SP is on a barrier island about 20 miles east of Beaufort SC. Just got back from a 4 night stay. This is a beautiful park. If you want true beach side camping, this is the place. I have camped in all 4 SC ocean front state parks and this is the closest you get to the beach. 200 sites but only about 10-12 RV sites are truly beach front. About another 15 tent only sites on the beach. Monday was my birthday (don't ask but I don't feel but a few days over 69), my DW took me to a place on St Helena island (Boondocks) for all you can eat Snow Crab. It was great. There is an old light house on Hunting Island that you can climb for a great view. Surf fishing and pier fishing are available. We mostly swam and chilled at the beach. Very relaxing week. The downer. The day we arrived (Sunday) 3 people had drowned at the park; father, 16 year old son and 17 year old cousin. They just found the third body yesterday.
