I requested information from Dexter Axles regarding the spindle/bearing sizes on their axles: Here's their reply

    Dear Douglas,
Thank you for visiting the Dexter Axle website and sending us your question.
Dexter did not use a 1.00" bearing in our product line. We do use bearings with 1.0625 ID. Axles with BOTH inner and outer bearing with the 1.0625 ID would be our 600 to 2200 pound axle product lines.

Thus, for those of us who have Dexter 600-1000lb, or 1000-2200lb axles on our trailers, we would use 1 1/16" I.D. bearings with the Std. part number 44649 for both inner and outer bearings, and the accompanying bearing cups, part #44610.

The link gives a very descriptive blow up diagram of these axles and brake assemblies.

And now I can order brake hubs, assemblies, controler, bearings and all that other good stuff so I can start into this project before I go on the road for the first time!!<img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

I hope others can use this information as well.

    Don't forget the seals!

etrailer.com has the best deals I've found on bearing kits... inner, outer, and a seal for 1/2 the price of a camper shop.
