I would like to install a 12v plug in my Pup. The plug will go directly to a second battery and be used with an inverter for a few items while dry camping.

Do I just wire the plug directly to the battery? Is there a need for a fuse?

Just wondering if anyone has done this and if so, how?

    Thank in advance

I would use an inline fuse rated the same or just a little lower than the amperage of the inverter.

Yes, put a fuse in. If there was a direct short, somethings got to give. It will either be the device plugged in or the wiring would melt. If you can find the right one, there's also resetable breakers available. They are pricey.

A big YES on a fuse. Fuses are cheaper than electronics.

I assume you mean and outlet. Anything taken directly from the battery should be fused as close to the battery as possible. The fuse rating should be lower than the wire and outlet rating. Keep in mind when using an inverter, the battery will be supplying 10 times the current that the device load takes from the invertor.

A fuse close to the battery. A fuse is used to protect the wiring.
