Hi, I finally bought my first pop-up. I'm really more of a backpacker, but that is not something DW can do. So, after months of waiting for the right trade-in to come to the dealership our son works at as a technician, we picked up a 1989 Jayco Jay Series 1006. The canvas is in awesome condition; the rest is so-so and ready for renewal.

We are going to have fun with this project.

Welcome from across the "Rivah" in Chesterfield! Seems to be quite a few from VA on here...will definitely have to try and make the Rally next year!

Thanks all! Actually, we are across the Rivah in Chesterfield, I just tend to use Richmond because of work-thoughts.

Welcome aboard. I am also an ex-LD backpacker, canoeist and kayaker but the knees and back have finally brought my kayaking and backpacking days to an end. I still canoe camp when I can get away for a few days and my wife does not like it anyway. We do camp quite a bit in our PUP tho and she enjoys that. Anyway welcome from N/W Fl.

Pretty close - Otterdale & Genito! And I'm also curious about your Rte. 66 image...have you ever driven it? The DW and I drove it back in 2004 all the way from Chicago to LA.

Belated welcome from the desert of Eastern WA. I used to live in Virginny back in the 80s and 90s. Left there and moved south, north, back south then finally west. Also a backpacker that has taken a good liking to the pop up world.

VA has a good group of Puppers. HVAC and I have camped together a few times in my Eastern years.

Hman93, that's pretty close indeed. I have not driven all of 66, but I did grow up on it in Joplin, Mo. I've traveled most of it from St Louis west. My family hasn't always enjoyed the road as much as I.

Steve A, I used to live in Salem, OR and almost ,moved to Ellensburg, WA. Not sure which I side of the mountains I like best.

Thanks again for the welcome everyone!
