I spoke to a Coleman dealer the other day about a roof replacement, and was shocked to find that the dealer belives that Coleman is on its last legs. According to him, the factory is only operating 3 days a week and was completely shut down a few weeks ago. He seemed to believe that they were on it's way to completely shutting down. This dealer only sells Coleman, so I believe that he had no ulterior motive in telling me this. If this is true, I would encourage anyone who has a cracking sagging Coleman roof to get it replaced immediately. Has anyone heard anymore about this?

It's not surprising to me that Coleman is operating on a reduced schedule...many manufacturing factories are at the moment. Coleman is still undergoing changes as a result of their sale last year, but I'd doubt that they are ready to go under....If anything, I'd think the investment company that bought them will try to offload the company. Popups that have been manufactured out of that facility in Somerset, PA since the late 60's have always held a commanding lead in the popup market.
