I love my pup, but three weeks alone in it and I don't want to touch it for another three months. Had to work in the middle of nowhere and to save money I lived in a state park rather than a hotel. It was a great decision until the reading material ran out after the first two weeks. It's amazing how many little things you can spot in your trailer that need fixing when you stare at the walls for that amount of time.

But it held up well in some colder and wetter weather and treated me right. And that memory foam stuff you buy at Walmart for $25 is a back saver. Golden Gate State Park near Black Hawk, CO is an awesome place if you're ever in the area. Great fishing too.

    Good for you, Rainier!

We live in Denver and have never camped at Golden Gate... it looks nice, though. Isn't part of it year-round? But pretty high elevation 8-9000ft? We might try it out in early-mid October when the higher mts are risky of snow.

    Glad you accomplished it, though!

I stayed in one of their cabins for a weekend back in January 08. The snow was about two feet deep. That's pretty typical for a winter in that area.

Wow, three weeks. Not sure if I could go that long, I love my PUP and all, but that's a loooong time. Glad you got to enjoy it though!

    Wow 3 weeks!!!!

I think the only thing that would save me is internet access. No access = no sanity.

    Good job.

Was the 3 weeks worth it? Did you save enough to reach your goals?

Yeah, it was worth it. Saved about $100/night. I'm self-employed so that kind of goes into my own pocket. Really, I only had to spend from 5:30 pm - 7:30 am at the campground. The rest of the time I was at work. No internet. Luckily I started grad school and had homework and reading to do to keep busy.

Fishing stunk at the CG but was great were I was working.

I love Golden Gate SP. We stayed there 2 yrs ago for 4 nights. It is a long way up to the campground. They had a lot of activities for kids at the ampitheater. We loved it.
