Our first shakedown. We will be camping only 1 mile from our home on Saturdat at http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=599 We are new to Pup camping but are long time tent campers in over 26 National Parks. We are super excited and cautious at the same time. We hope to upload our first experience next week. Happy Trails! John & girls
Congrats, and enjoy the trip. It sounds like a good first trip. Far enough from camp driveway, to feel like youve gotten away from it all, but close enough to retrieve things you might havge forgotten. Dont forget the pencil and paper to plan for the next trip.
That's awesome. We have yet to make our first pup camping trip. Have one schedule for the Memorial Day Holiday but hope to make a couple of local shakedown runs before then. Nothing that close to up nor do we have your experience but we'll make it a couple of weekend camps close by before our 5 day trip for the holiday.
Camping so near home the first time is a good thing. That way, if you've forgotten something or think something would be handy, you can go get it. Although, if you're tent campers, you should be all set. Enjoy!!
+1 to the pencil and paper suggestion, and +1 to camping close to home for the shakedown. Like you, we are fortunate to have a county park two miles from our house and had to run back home the first trip to pick up a couple necessities (can't have smores without marshmellows!) The other great thing about having a spot so close is...that it's so close! From driveway to fully set up in camp is under an hour, and that's especially fantastic for those, "hey, let's camp tonight" decisions at 3pm on Friday. Have fun and congrats!
That is one of our favorite beach cg's! I wish we lived closer. I love those central coast beaches! Except for the trains... but I get used to them. Have fun! Greg
