Haven't been able to go camping with the wife since we had our first (2+1/2yr) and now just had a second (2 months) so we bought a 1981 Coleman Redwood. I've got a small patch job and a seam to restitch and then we're off! We live in a western suburb of Chicago and we're thinking a one niter at Starved Rock for the inaugural run. I found all the info on this board from google searches so I figured I'd register and say Hi and Thanks!

That's the same reason we got a popup. We did tent came once with a three year old. It wasn't a disaster, but it was still a lot of work. Now we have a 5 year old and a 15 month old. It's even more tough to keep the little one out of trouble.

Welcome from KY! A short trip, not far from home is a great starter trip. We did just that and luckly had no problems but it was nice to be an hour to home if needed. Have fun and enjoy your pup!!!

Welcome to the Portal. You'll like Starved Rock if you haven't been there before. Lots of hiking although you're kids are young for their trails-a lot of elevation changes. There's a little marine museum on the other side of the river that may provide a little diversion for the 2 yr old.

If you're interested in another option that may be a bit closer to home, Blackwell Forest Preserve in Dupage has a small RV campground. Might be a better fit. Closer to home if there's a problem. Lots of paved paths for Big Wheeler/stroller. Has a nice nature preserve area. Been there many times in the Youth Group Section with Scouts. Was one of our favorites.

Welcome from SE Wisconsin. Check out Chain-0-Lakes State Park or Illinois Beach State Park. We enjoy both parks a lot.

I thought it was, got a camper, kids happened....

    LOL.

But since it was the other way, better read up on the "How to do it with kids in the camper" thread....

    Lol!

    Welcome.

Judging the dates, I doubt reading the How to thread will help. [;)] [;)]
