Today my hubby Brian just competed in a 23 mile race in Middleville MI, just outside Hastings at Yankee Springs State Park.
He was one of 943 riders and finished 39th (in his age class!! [LOL]).
Being that he's soon to be 53 and this was his first race, don't think he did too badly.
The first Saturday in May we'll be heading up to Traverse City for Brian to participate in a trail race. Should be a little warmer then as the race temp today was around 14F at the start, and in the mid 20'sF at the finish!

    Oh by the way,
This pic is from last years race. It also took place in March and I understand that it was single digit temps. Brrrr!
Still wondering where the person taking the pic was? Up a tree or something, because we certainly didn't have this kind of view. [?:~{]

Great shot. Would have been fun to watch and hear those riders go by.

Well done! I've been on some of those trails at Yankee Springs - shudder!

Kudos to your husband. Yankee is not a real easy trail to ride. Lots of sand to surprise the novice rider. The race (Barry-Roubaix)is mostly on gravel roads around and through Yankee Springs but not on the actual singletrack trails. Still a tough race this time of year.

He'd never been out there before and assumed that since it was labeled as 'Gravel' that it would be more trail type gravely paths.
Found out that he should have brought the street bike and not the mountain bike as about 90% of the path was paved!
    Will definitely know next year.

Very Cool looking race! A bit far for me to drive (10 hours), but maybe some day.

The picture looks dry. How were the conditions that day? [BY]
