Stayed two nights at Carr Creek. This is a small campground, with some sites nice and spacious, and others seem to back into others. The restroom and shower house needs attention. Broken plumbing on some of the fixtures, peeling paint on the walls, just lack of maintenance. There is a swimming beach here as well. The beach is nice, but the bathhouses are worse than the campground bath house. The men's facility had no sinks with running water, several had stagnant water standing in them, and the lights needed some work. My wife said the women's beach bathhouse as bad, also.

The only fun event was driving into Hazard to see the house that looks like a goose sitting on a nest.

Wow.... we almost stayed there this summer, too.... Glad we didn't. If you ever find yourself down there again, check out Trace Branch Campground. It is AMAZING.... clean facilites, quiet, beautiful location on a quiet river. The sites are a little close, but when we were there, we were one of only two families at the campground. It's 180 degrees from what you described.
