We tried to get in there but they didn't have cabins for the grandparents! Maybe next time! We are headed up to St Augustine instead! Enjoy your weekend!

We avoided camping on holiday weekends entirely for quite a few years. There are still many campgrounds that we would not camp in on holidays, and some that we wouldn't camp in on regular weekends.
However, we have found some places that are not easily accessible to cities and large towns that have proved to be fine on holidays. Last year, we were in one for 4th of July that was not even filled.
OTOH, we've encountered obnoxious, oblivious campers mid-week not close to holidays.

This will be our third weekend in our new TT. Still has that new TT smell. [:D]

We'll be at a private campground which is adult only, has a large ceement pond, and no wifi or cell service.

Planning on doing a whole lot of sitting around. Perhaps a little napping.

Certain CGs have a bad reputation. However, weekends near cities are just busier, have larger groups with louder voices later at night than otherwise. Like kitphathom said, there are CGs that do not fill up and have quiet campers that turn in early. I love those CGs. Great Basin NP in Nevada is a good example.

Awesome! The wifey and I used to tent camp around Vedauwoo atleast once a summer before we had kids. Havent been since we started pup camping. We used to love climbing the boulders and watching the sunrise or sunset from the top. Wish we could go camping but I just got offered OT on saturday night. Couldnt turn down the $. Hope you have a great time!!

Leaving the pup home, doing a 5 mile hike to San Pedro Parks in northern New Mexico. Nice population of pure Rio Grande Cutthroats in the head waters of the Jemez watershed. Quite possibly the most beautiful salmonoid species
on the face of the earth. A bottle of Tito's, a dozen yellow humpies, half dozen beetle patterns and a bunch of ramon noodles, this will be one sweet 3 day weekend!! Wish you all a super weekend, whatever you do.

We're going the couple of days after Labor Day to try to avoid the crowd. Hopefully it's not too hot!

San Pedro Parks is a great hike. DH and I have backpacked it several times, I hope I can do it again one of these days (assuming my back lets me). We did it over Memorial Day a couple of times, not a lot of people there. We about froze the last time, though, there were still snowbanks in the treed areas.
    We're not fishermen, though.

We're headed to the first North Grand Canyon Rally, and my first outing as Wagonmaster.

After a busy week at work, I'm really looking forward to getting out in the P'up!

Headed to a friends pasture for a camping trip. Don't really care to be out among the fair weather holiday campers much. Around here it's obnoxious. In the pasture we can be as loud as we want. Will be on the four wheel a lot and will probably shoot quite a few rounds of brass. Double cream can on Saturday for the husker game and good Louisiana cooking from a friend if ours on Sunday. Bring in the boudan
