Stopped here for a night on the way down to Lousiana. What a GREAT surprise! This campground is on Lake Arkabutla near Hernando MS. There is a wonderful large earthen dam (COE) and several beautiful campgrounds. We had a HUGE lot right on the water with water and electric for the whopping price of $10 with our America the Beautiful Card. One of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed at so far. Highly recommend this place.

We love Hernando point! We have been down there many times. Glad to see its a lake again. In 2012 it was just a big low spot! I think the drought/some problems with the spillway really drained it. [PUC] [PUT]

We will go back there this year...of course it'd help to have a camper first. LOL. I am also glad that the lake is coming back up...2012 was not a good year for Arkabutla.

The water there is drawn down seasonally in anticipation of spring rains. By the way, this campground is currently closed due to storm damage. Another great location on Arkabutla Lake is located at the main dam. Look for South Abutment campground.
