Should be a nasty slushy mess. Lol Forecast calls for rain all weekend here. We say here in NE Ohio "If you don't like the weather, stick around it'll change" lol

Reserve america shows some good sites are walk-in only and can't be reserved

Dave, unlike PA with a 11 month booking window, Ohio only books 6 months out, so we can't book until January for a July rally, so be ready as sites should go fast once the reservation window does open.
glad your interested in joining us, can't wait to meet you.

Well John, it looks as though at this time we won't be able to make this one. However, we are still looking for a stopping point half way to French Creek in early October if you have any suggestions as to where we could easily park the beast for the night in the P'burgh area. Would be happy to meet up and give you a personalized tour then.

Sorry you can't make it to the rally Jay, but understand. I will see where I'm at in October and maybe we can hook up , . Keep the adventure thread active , and maybe we can cross paths. If plans change, you know where we will be in July

    Hey John,

Sure looks like it's shapping up to be another good rally. Looking forward to meeting new and old friends.

One week post operative, I'm feeling pretty good. No more pain in the lower back and leg. Just have to remember no bending twisting or lifting ( it's hard considering I'm feeling like I can) during recovery. But I'll be ready and hopefully have a few trips under my belt for 2017 by the the time the rally us here.

2017 will be here in just a few days. How many trips does everyone have planned so far? We're booked for Memorial Day weekend and the rally will be next. Reservation opens on the 21st of January for the rally (I think). I'm a bit behind thus year I need to get busy. While I'm off work I'll have to start checking out dates and campgrounds!

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year and here's to a bountiful camping season for 2017!!

    Rob

Rob, sounds like you had herniated disk surgery. How did it go? Where did you have it done? Any fusions involved or just a clean and fix?

Correct, I had discectomy and laminectomy on l3-l4, l4-l5 and l5-s1, no fusions thankfully. I had it done at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. I was there for 2 nights, got to home on Christmas Eve, Merry Christmas to me and my family. I woke up with no pain in the lower back or leg, just the surgical site pain. The Dr told me the l4-l5 disc which was my worst one he took out disc material the size of pinkie finger to the first knuckle. Medical terms are usually talked about in mm, this was like a 1/2 inch. No wonder I was hurting so bad since August.

I have had L4-L5 done twice also without fusions, 10 years apart, once on the left and once on the right. That's really impressive that they did 3 without a fusion. I have a bulge in L5-S1 but have fortunately made it so far without needing to do surgery on it. Do yourself a favor, I'm sure they already have you up and walking, keep at it. Being 16 years out from my first surgery, one of the worst things you can do for yourself from here on out is stopping movement. I got moved to a desk job back in September and have again been in massive pain since. A few weeks ago I joined a gym again and feel much better. Good luck, lots of walking is your friend, take it slow and work yourself up to regular life again gradually.

Thanks everyone, taking it easy is the hard part for me. I'm home on "vacation" and see all the things I can be working on and I can't do a thing yet. Especially now that I'm feeling better I know I'm not healed and that process is still going on. The main thing is I will be ready by April when my camping gear season begins!!

Glad to hear your surgery went well, Rob. Hopefully this will make the coming camping season easier for you!

I'm sorry to all that I've been so absent of late. Things have been really crazy around here for me. I've been in the process of changing careers from retail to web programming, which has entailed a host of self led training and spending the last couple of months working two jobs totaling nearly 70 hours a week.

All this paid off, while I still be doing two jobs for the foreseeable future, as of last week I went FT at a tech company as a Software Implementation Specialist. This means I finally, for the first time in my life, have a set schedule with weekends off. This means a whole lot more camping this year compared to last.

Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop. And to get this back on topic, when does the ressie windows open up? The 21st of this month?

Re: Lake Erie Region Rally , Geneva State Park Ohio

Looking forward to this as always. Might have our 4 legged child with us on this trip. I was looking on the mobile site and it looks like the area you were looking at is pet friendly. I'm hoping it is, I like to be with the group, I don't want my wife and kids to get lonely. [emoji6]

Thanks to all with your thoughts and prayers on my back. Things seem to be pretty good, I get pretty sore and stiff at times but I know it'll get better. [emoji123]

My thoughts are turning towards camping, especially as we are enjoying some amazing weather for January.

    Let's get ready to camp!![emoji91]
