I think you'd likely run into a lot of complaints with a fog machine, most likely because of folks with asthma or allergies, not to mention the loud music volumes that most often accompany a fog machine. Flashing lights themselves cause a lot of complaints as well.

Sounds like it'd be a hoot if you're out in the boonies, group camping or at a music festival with a bunch of family and friends but I can't see it not attracting a lot of complaints anywhere else.

You want fog? No machine needed if you camp on the North Pacific Coast. You'll have plenty of fog provided by good old Mother Nature.

Weird maybe you're right, we used to boondock and fish at the Grand Kankakee Marsh in Indiana which would be about 90 minutes from downtown Chicago. Pit toilets and vague camp sites but NO ONE went there since there where no hookups. I don't live around there anymore so you'd have to do your own research but 25 years ago it used to be really nice, quiet and mediocre fishing.

I won first place at the Christmas in July weekend...and I used my fog machine in a wooden chimney with LEDs inside... it looked like real smoke!!

It would have been fine if it was shipped in the on position, but it was not... I tried many things to get it to be able to turn on and not have to wait for a replacement.
