Looking Charlotte /Rock Hill Area

I will taking my camper down to New Symernia beach Florida the end of October, looking for a layover about half way mark. Charlotte NC / Rock Hii SC area Oct 28 - 29 2023 . Would like to stay fairly close to I-77 if possible . Any suggestions? But may venture further if there’s a rally or some portal members camping to meet up with somewhere

You can try McDowell Nature Preserve in Charlotte or Chester State Park on South Carolina.

I would not recommend Koa in Fort Mill, unless you are just looking for an overnight. It is 95% paved and no amenities, other than a dive bar nearby.

I would look at Andrew Jackson state park. Great campground, close ish, to the interstate, but you won't hear any interstate road noise. They have a small lake, also it is on the south side so depending on when you leave no traffic to fight. Ebenezer park in Rock Hill looks ok but no experience camping there yet. Driven through twice, I'm OK with it but DW is more hesitant. It is on the lake. Fills up fast sometimes.

Ebenezer is a nice park. I , ade the , mistake of staying there the week of Father's Day last year. Big mistake! Everyone took dad for picnics that weekend. Crowded everywhere except at the individual camp sites. (Fully booked but it was the day visitors that made it so packed.)

My son and I camped there at the end of October while visiting the park. Not bad but not exactly quiet … lots of late night street racing in the area so bring earplugs. Nice bathrooms and a decent camp store.

We are further west, a few miles from I-26 at the SC/NC state line. Your more than welcome to drop in and visit. Even have full hookups here.

Google maps showing about 85 miles out of the way to swing by here, only 60 is 2 lane country.
Also, If y'all head out to Turtle Mound, Check out JB's Fish Camp. Look behind the bar for my NC Paramedic and Polk County EMS patch.... Then tell them I sent ya... Might even get you a free glass of water...

Chimney Rock is only about 5 miles as the crow fly's. Filming area for Last of the Mohicans and Dirty Dancing.
Andrew Jackson is also a nice spot, we go there a couple times a year, and Our daughter had her wedding there.

You could plan either direction too.
