We stayed here at the D.A.R. for five days. Arrived Sunday 8/7/2016. Site 12. Me, DW, 2DS's and our two girls, coon hounds Copper & Abbie!! Black bear country as advertised. Bear boxes on each site and strongly recommend to use and use properly. Its bear country but the problem is human and bears are equal opportunist's! Our boys loved the beach and their hike with mom upto the firetower. The D.A.R. sits on 1020 acres with hiking trails for all ages and abilities! The mosquitoes were out and bug spray was daily, although the campground was wet when we arrived after a heavy rain and had heavy rain our last two days. We had a marsh Creek bed along the perimeter but it was wet everywhere and the mosquitoes were bad everywhere when the sun wasn't out. Site 12, our site, seemed most secluded and compared to all the others our #1 choice when we camp here again someday. We plan to camp each MA State Forest and park! It's, as most are, a weekend driven business. We camped Sunday thru Thursday. The Nature Center is open Thursday - Sunday and offers interpretive programs for the kids and has a massive collection of local wildlife, flora and fauna on display. There is a great wildlife viewing station and the bear access road from the forest to the dumpster area is located near here... Please have a look at our D.A.R. trip in photos! http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/millerwhite72/library/Cheyenne%20PUP%20Camping/DAR%20StateForest-GoshenMA Thanks! Let's Go Camping!!!
