We're looking at a trip to Janes Island to explore the water trail. Perhaps a visit to Pocomoke (sp?) State Park. I'm interested in site recommendations at Janes Island, if anyone has been there. We're going mid-week to avoid the throngs.

    Thanks in advance.

Janes Island - We were there a few years ago in loop B. The sites 19-24 were canal front and offered the best view of the sunsets. It was a nice park and we would like to go again. Take bug spray! (Sorry, I don't have any pics loaded to my Yahoo for this park).

Pocamoke River SP (Shad Landing) - We were there last year in loop G (electric). The sites were all on the outside of the loop. There is nothing but woods in front of the sites so it is very, very dark at night. The loop maps indicate the size of the site (short, medium, long). There are a few pics in my Yahoo photo album "2006 Pocomoke River SP" to give you an idea of what the park was like. If you go, take the two-hour guided kayak tour on Sunday morning. It was very enjoyable. There is a very nice swimming pool at the campground. It's only a 30 minute ride to Ocean City if you wanted to take a daytrip. Also, take bug spray! Almost fogot...If you don't have a porta-pot in your camper, make sure you have plenty of batteries in your flashlight. It is so dark at night you can not see the bathhouse from the road. There are several paths to the bathhouse. It's best to try to find the closest one to your site before it gets dark. One is across from site 16. This park is on our absolutely must go back list. Amazingly, even though it is so close to OC, you still could see the Milky Way.

Thank all of you for your suggestions. I'll post a brief review. Oh yeah....100% Deet is already in "the bag that goes to the camper."

The kayaking at Janes Island is very good but just not during low tide.
