For Memorial Day weekend, we decided to stay close to home and tried out Susquehanna State Park. It's only about an hour from home and we had never been there. It turned out to be a really nice place to stay.

The bath house is a little old, but not in poor shape. They kept it clean, and there was plenty of hot water. There is a pretty big playground, and the kids had a good time on that.

There's a local volunteer organization that patrols the park on horseback. That organization held a campfire for the kids. Everyone that attended had a really good time.

The campground consists of 2 loops with 69 sites. Only 6 are electric and 6 more are cabins. Since it was relatively mild, we didn't need the AC, so we didn't miss the electric at all. Also, the electric sites are not as nice as the other sites. Most of the sites had people tent camping, but there were a few TTs, a hybrid and a bunch of popups.

A word of advice, if you decide to go to this park, book sites inside the loop. Some of the outside loop sites are tent only, and there are a couple that are just a grass strip beside the road. Some of the inside sites are huge. The one we stayed in was one of these. I've got a couple pics of the site located here. I will definitely go back to this park. The only negative is it's not open year round.

We visited Havre de Grace several years ago (without the PUP) and spent a little bit of time in the park. We've talked about going back to camp there, so thanks for the tips!

The camping section and the day use section are separate. Day use section is pretty nice as well. I don't have a lot of details. I attended a geocaching picnic there, so there are quite a few geocaches in and around the park.
