Lotsa great links here for Missouri's pristine Montauk State Park at the headwaters of the crystal clear, spring fed, trout abundant Current River:

I grew up very close to Montauk, and I plan on going back in mid May to do some trout fishing. The area is beautiful. My only complaint is that the campground is mush to busy and crowded. I find it hard to get much rest there.

Montauk is a VERY beautiful area with a stream that is LOADED with ALL kinds of trout AND is brisling and every so clear and the water temp is optimum when the air temps get kinda hot . Even the ladies that don't care for fishing will LOVE setting up a beach chair in the edge of the water and just sitting there reading a good book ....
And yes ... it DOES indeed get busy , but , then again ... the trout fishing is SO good .... How could you sa no ?
Oh , and did I forget to say ... that ALL the DNR ( rangers ) they ALL have such a GOOD attitude . Not sarcastic , or snotty , or anything other than something so courteous , helpful and friendly , just like you would read about in a book .
Know ... you DON'T want to know about my experience with a DNR in Wisconsin while we were trail riding .... NOT a good , OR friendly experience !
