the area above my door on my 1995 starcraft spaceflyer feels soft like the wood is rotted or something. any ideas, forums or youtube videos of how to repair this area ? I am new to pop up campers and hope I did not get ripped off buying this one.

Are you talking about the side board or the ceiling? How far out is it soft? How handy are you with wood work?

If you are comfortable doing wood work, it's doable. It will be a lot of work though.

I don't know of any you tube (they may exist). Most deal with complete roof repairs. What part of the world do you live in?
If you're going to do this, you will want to remove the paper covering that sidewall first. Then you can be sure how far the damage goes.
A Dremel will make the job easier and do the least damage. I would cut back a couple of inches from where it seems solid.

I guess I am unclear by what you mean "remove paper cover" this seem like the piece is like aluminum on the outside and perhaps inside where the drop down door attaches to the wall. seems like there is wood or pressed wood inside of it.

I think what Shaman1 is referring to is the inner covering on the panel of the roof sideboard. You mentioned replacing a small section of the panel above your door
which would be rather difficult because that panel is a structural 'beam 'that supports the roof from corner to corner and should be replaced in one piece for strength.
Here is a thread where I had to do that on my flagstaff. I replaced the rotted OSB board with a solid cedar board....
