    @sea-piner

    I've only owned one other male dog, and he was an adult rescue and was already neutered. I have had two male cats and had them neutered and their testicles were gone afterward.

    So now, we have a male dog that just got neutered this week. We paid to have him neutered, all his shots, mircro-chipped, and he turned out to be heartworm positive, so have him on meds for that before he can go on Trifexis. We found him in a ditch, paralyzed, last summer, and was probably being eaten alive by mosquitoes, so no surprise there. He's now gained 15 pounds and deemed was finally deemed in good enough health for all his shots and surgery.

    I never actually LOOKED because he took his own bandage off, so I didn't have to. Well, today, he laid on his back and it was clear that he not only still has testicles, but they are bigger than ever! Do they do something different these days?

    Although we keep our dogs with us 100% of the time, when camping, I still want them fixed to avoid any potential issues.

    [LOL] I never even realized how it sounded until you pointed it out. It's in the pet section, but I suppose it does show up on everyone's "recent unread topics" and they may not realize that. [:O]

    [LOL] [:O] I swear this was a serious post when I made it. Realizing now that people will see it out of it's context in the pet section is actually pretty hilarious, but most definitely unintended.

    Now you guys have me seeing it in perspective and laughing. I suppose it could apply to DH as well, since he had a vasectomy in 1993. [;)]

    I was concerned that someone might ask me too.

    Surely there are some male dog owners on here. I Googled it, and other people have had the same question, but no satisfactory answers. Everyone seems as confused as I am about it. Where is @sea-piner when I need him? :) He's a vet.

    That is probably an infection of his scrotum. Neutering should be a removal and not a vasectomy. You should get him in ASAP since they may have to remove that too. I just saw this on DR Pol last week. Same deal. Neutering and they look bigger than before After a few days. That is a serious health issue.

    Thank you! I calling the vet in the morning and hope they have an emergency number.

    So, our dog was fixed last year and he still has some dangling going on, although not bigger than ever. I was told the procedure is different now and they don't hack everything off.

    Thought this might be in answer to the "Smoky fires and large busted women not wearing bras" thread.

    Legal Disclaimer: I'm no vet (nor have I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express lately), but when my Dad had his Weimeraner fixed, he came home looking normal, but over time they shriveled up and now nothing (shuddering at the thought). I agree with the quoted statement; it may not have been a removal. I think they're interrupting the blood flow or something similar that causes them to die off now instead of a total jewel-ectomy. [:!]

    Yep, that is exactly what the vet said. They said it is just swollen from the procedure and would eventually just look like a loose little sac. Weird.

    I don't know if it's just me but this whole discussion is beginning to make me uncomfortable.
