    Hi,
My husband and I have owned a (don’t laugh) 2001 Starcraft Galaxy pop up for years. We got it when the kids were younger. Lots of camping in New England area. It’s always been a faithful friend, no major issues.
It didn’t get opened last summer, now won’t crank up. No cranking noise, just frozen. Won’t budge.
He wants to ditch the old thing, but I’m way too Scottish to not try to fix it!

We’ve lubed everything with wd40. Nothing appears to be broken, no visible problems.

Anybody know the first thing to check?

    Thanks!

Welcome to the Portal from South Carolina. Someone will be by to help. Nothing like that on an Aliner.

Welcome to the forum from Midway USA.

If the crank won't even turn, I'd start at the winch/wiffle tree. Sounds like something my be lodged in the works.

    Welcome from Planet Georgia!

My Starflyer is also 2001, so it's probably the same mechanism. Check the easy stuff first: are the roof latches undone? What happens if you turn the crank left to bring it down a little farther before going up?

Assuming none of those are the issue, go underneath and hit the winch with some silicone lube — every touchy-movey part except the brake, for obvious reasons. Look at the pulleys, make sure none of the cables have jumped, and hit them with some lube as well.

It is amazing how a lawn mower can be parked and the belts can freeze to the pullies, then they end up at my house because they "wont fire, won't turn over" because of a stuck belt. My 1984 hates sitting too long unused, try lifting the roof a bit, then back down just by hand. Try to free those cables a bit. Probably the whiffle is stuck or frozen, but it should be temporary for you~!
