New Sink Drain Question

Have a question for you guys - I have a Coleman with a sink drain on the floor of the camper - dumb idea, doesn't work.

I am moving the drain to the sidewall of the camper for height and ease of use.

When I get ready to drill the hole through the side wall, is there any way of telling where the studs are that make up the sidewall? Anything else I should be concerned with?

Why doesn't it work in the floor? To me that is a straight drop for the waste. It is the side drains like mine that have venting issues and crimped piping issues causing the sink to drain slowly. I wish mine drained straight down.

The drain is actually off to the back a little, but it's so low you can't get a hose from the connection to the tank. It is 10-12 inches from the ground at best...

Our previous PUP had a connection on the side, and my drain line ran straight down to an AquaContainer, and worked wonderfully. Had I known I was going to end up putting the drain line in the side, I would have saved my money and used the old AquaContainer instead of the ridiculously priced grey water tank.
