We're looking to buy a pop up camper that will fit our family of five with two teen boys and one well on the way to teenhood (9yo). Neither DH or I grew up camping, but I have always had a love of the great outdoors. I grew up going to parks, exploring the woods, etc. DH, it seems, grew up very climate controlled, LOL. I think that I got just enough of a fix going to parks and hiking quite a bit when the boys were younger, but now that they are all older and in school and I am working full time, I find that my weekends are filled with laundry and groceries and I'm not happy. Our first inspiration for this new journey in our lives was that two of my three boys (I'm working on the third) have inherited my love of outdoor exploration and have expressed the desire to go camping. The second was that my recently retired parents have purchased an RV and have taken to travelling 6-8 months every year. I was jealous enough listening to their stories and seeing the photos they sent, but I went over the edge recently when I spent a week with them on the west coast. I'm in. I want to go, see, and most of all, DO. DH was not on board with tent camping, but I think I have him sold on the idea of a pop up. We already have a minivan, will just need to get a tow package installed, and then we are looking for a preferably used pop up that sleeps 6 with A/C-heat, a stove and fridge, maybe a microwave. I'm not sold on the shoilet thing, but I'm keeping an open mind. There are so many options out there right now that I'm completely overwhelmed. We'd like to keep it under $10K (and preferably closer to $5K) and I'm figuring we'll buy used. Any and all advice is welcome! Thanks!
