    Greetings from Canada,

My wife and I took the plunge and picked up a 1972 Sun Kamper (made in Canada!). The camper is in great shape, although a little dated, no water damage anywhere and the canvas was completely replaced 3 years ago. Everytime I would do an online query regarding pop-up trailers I kept landing here so I figured it was time I joined the team. You guys have a great website here, I look forward to leaning on your experiences!

Ok, this is my first go at adding images here, I'm not very tech savy unfortunately. I'll give this a go anyways.

I think I have it straightened out now.

This style of trailer has a unique support mechanism. It has 4 exterior support arms with a "knee-bend" joint. This design avoids the normally problematic cable pulley system for erecting the trailer. When I was still in short pants, my parents had a Sun Kamper as well. I got used to this style of trailer. I had an 80's version Bon-Air Trailer with a cable pulley system. When the cables failed, I got rid of this and went back to the style I grew up with.

Welcome from Northern California. Cool - and early high wall! From the pictures, it looks wider than today's units (7') - is it? ^x2 on changing the tires!!

I used to have that kitchen floor in orange...lol! We just picked up an 88 and its dated but I have to say I purchased it off of ebay for $300 bucks we weren't sure what we were getting into, but its fantastic no rips in the canvas (except for the little one I put in it) no water damage and everything is solid. We lucked out.

Haha.. I LOVE it. I was instantly reminded of the seventies.. I had shirts in that print and the floor I swear was in my house. I remember the texture of the fabric.. Crazy. Congrats, and have fun!

Thanks. I apreciate all the love here. You guys rock.

The tire thing, yep, I suspect it will be a full adventure to change the tires, I'm not looking forward to doing it. Next year, I'm going to add bearing buddies to the wheels to make them easier to service.

On another note, my daughters were fooling around today and popped out the aluminum door panel at the bottom of the door [:(!]
Now I'm left with the cahallenge of pulling apart the door unit at the bottom to put in a new piece of door skin and reset the aluminum panel. Removing 41 year old screws is proving to be a difficult task! [MOD] Oh well, this will be a chance for me to improve the door with some new door skin and new screws.

Forget the bearing buddies ....... designed to force the water out of boat trailer bearings. Not a problem on non-boat trailers and never a substitute for bearing maintenance.
