We went to the dark side in February and waiting patiently for NE Wisconsin campgrounds to open. I was towing the former PUP and new TT with a 2012 Taco. The drive home with the Taco and new TT was ok but definitely could feel it on the hills and what not. Would suit us fine for local trips but wouldn't want to take it on long trips. So an opportunity to trade in was presented earlier this week. We got a 2018 Tundra 1794 Limited Crew max with only 24k miles on it. Over the moon ecstatic to tow the new TT with it. Gas mileage isn't the best in the Tundra but the 38 gallon tank is a nice tradeoff. I am a loyal Toyota customer for the last 10 plus years and didn't think of going in any other direction.
Nice! It will tow it fine. Plus you have the bed of the truck for everything you could possable need! Good luck with it.
Nice. I am a Toyota pickup fan. I would own a Tundra if I didnt need more payload than what most have.
If you look at my avatar you will see a travel trailer beside my Tacoma. That is the second travel trailer that I tried pulling with a Tacoma. Experience here where is yours? Keep it in fourth gear and don't be afraid to down shift as necessary. Right after we got home I traded back to a popup. Old saying "just because you can do something doesn't mean you should" I like my Tacoma to much to pull a travel trailer with it. Smart move to a Tundra.
Went from a 4Runner to a Taco to a Tundra. Needed a bigger cab and power to pull our TT. Payload and gas mileage are definitely a minus but I’m interested in reliability above all else.
the BIG questions to be answered are -- What is the Curb Weight, the GVWR, GCVWR, Tow Capacity and Payload of the TV, Then answer what is the GVWR of the TT -- will it fit in the specs safely (Not att the limit -- but about 80 - 90%) as it was said above , Not that the TV can pull it - but should it?? a lot of people forget that the TT Tongue weight (10-15% of TT Weight) is included as PAYLOAD - and usually overload the TV -- I see a lot of people on the road just flying down and you can just see it -- Nose riding high - and with great doubts that they could ever STOP if they had to !!! Safe travels
Orchid took a sabatical. Last i talked tonher she was a ok. There arw others besides qe miss and have no idea. I hope there all ok also.
i talk to Andrew (baltibcamper) every once in awhile - he has been needing a better tow vehicle to get back on the road.
Congratulations, it looks gggreat!! I got a Tundra (crewmax) in March and I love it. I've towed with it once and could hardly tell I had anything behind me. Just pay attention to the payload tho, it's actually not as much as you would think.
