Hey everyone! I bought an awesome 2006 Colman Fleetwood Pop-Up and luckily everything works! Got it for a still at $1,000 and am just trying to pretty it up. Already learned some great cleanser tips, but would love advise. Everything is almost done (painting, upholstery, etc.) but was curious on thoughts about wood flooring? I have some left over mdf wood from my house and wanted thoughts of if its worth the project when it comes to cleaning? I have about 1,000 lbs to play with when it comes to towing capacity so luckily thats not an issue.
Hello and welcome from Minnesota! I have seen numerous posts about those that have put wood flooring in the pup without incident but have also see posts from those that has some issues (maybe an expansion issue?). I'm sure more folks will soon chime in with more info. Good luck with your project!
Thanks! Yeah I've pretty much watched every youtube video on everything pop up. Not gonna lie...those videos are slow and maybe a "take 2" was in order. I like that they want to talk about everything in their life but sometimes, a girl just wants to learn something fairly quickly. Ha ha. But thank you, yeah with most wood they want to allow for a 1/2" gap on the sides but man, thats kinda alot in a little space. Thank you for the quick response! I would love more advice campers
Welcome to the portal! Glad you found us! I like your idea of putting down a nice wood floor, but because we have kids I find the viynl flooring is easier to sweep (no crevices for sand to get trapped in) and is moisture resistant (we store our PUP outside). We would love to see some pictures of before/after if you choose to go that route though!
Congratulations on the NTU Pup and Welcome to the forum from Midway USA. As HappyFamily said, vinyl flooring might be a better option. MDF and water don't mix well.
Thank you guys so much for all the advice! I went ahead and spent the extra $40 for vinyl since I'm under budget. Only took me 2 hours by myself to lay it down. This has been such an amazing fun project! I feel a bit bad about taking the original look away...I mean it is camping, but as a first time DIY-er on many things I'm stoked on how it is coming along. Pictures soon.
Welcome! You can always add something like this, I plan to do this this summer, https://www.amazon.com/Walldecor1-C...ocphy=9032048&hvtargid=pla-524941236235&psc=1 Basically a sticker of hardwood for your vinyl. I was going to add hardwood but this is by far cheaper and saves weight. Welcome again!
