So our next trip out will mark 200 nights pup camped in 5 years.

Any suggestions of anything to do to mark the occasion?

I thought about a special dinner? Maybe a desert (which we rarely have camping)??

What do you do for milestones?

    Do you keep track??

Other than the first trip in a camper, I don't have any milestones per say. I don't count my nights, but try to get out once a month for a long weekend at least.

I have made "celebratory" meals on occasion. If a friend will be coming out to visit while I'm camping, I will "put out a spread". I do enjoy desserts for those. For big occasions, I buy homemade cakepops from a co-worker. She decorates them to match the camper decor. Last time, she made lemon ones with yellow frosting, mint chocolate with lime green frosting, and chocolate with orange frosting. Then decorated them with chocolate swirls or yellow, green and orange flowers. Have to see what she comes up with for the FnR with it's silver, forest green and tree decor. :)

When they have those smaller size cake mixes available (usually comes with a paper pan and frosting), I have made them. They are nice because you don't end up with a massive cake, but it seems they get discontinued quickly.

Likewise, I brought Marie Callender apple pie this time. I got the small "2 serving" pie and it was just as good as the full size, but I'm not eating a huge pie.

For the "spread", I usually do things where folks can choose their own ingredients - tacos, indie pizzas, etc. I bring everything I like and then tell the guest what I will have there and if they want anything specific, they can bring it with them. As a vegetarian, this is nice because I don't end up with a bunch of meat I won't eat.

Have you picked a campground yet? I have favorite campgrounds for specific dates, like my birthday, t-day, etc.

Maybe invite some friends to join you for a day? I have friends who won't camp, but enjoy spending the day with me.

So you're averaging 3.33 nights per month. Let round up and say you get out on average about twice a month. Not bad!

I've been keeping a log for my current camper of days, miles, site costs, and if the site was electric or not.

    To celibate, GO CAMPING!

Shouldn't that be on the "how do you um do you know in a popup" thread? ;)

So, we're doing about half as much as you. I would like to get out more often, but just can't seem to find the time. We are at 95 nights in the last 5 years.

    All good info!!

The only people to go camping with us usually is for rallys (or people we met at rallys).

I am a single dad mostly (he is primarily with me), very few friends locally, and no family. So we go camping!!!

I try to go once or twice a month for three nights, as for meals, I usually save left overs from home (or cook extra) then freeze them and nuke them or crock pot them except for breakfast which I cook for pebbles and I. As for a special meal, every thing I eat while camping is special. I do not keep a count of camping times I am just glad to be able to go and enjoy every minute.

    Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment.

I enjoy seeing the photos of you and your boy and the cool places you camp.

It's not real detailed but I keep a log of our camping outings. I use and Excel spreadsheet and log the date, campground, site #, cost per night and total $$. I can add a note if I need. [:)C]

Take the kid somewhere cool, amusement park, etc , camping but with twist. Honestly , i bought my pop up for this reason, camping and to take my daughter places i otherwise couldent afford. So , now i can do both. What does the kido like to do, go from there , and memories will last way longet then the 200 night mark.

We already hit most parks and such around here.

He has school until 2:30 and dark about 5:30, so will try to keep it under a 2 hour drive.

He likes camping, he asks to go all the time.

I think we will just make a poster to put up and take some pictures of the pup and such!! And maybe do a special meal!!

Maybe you can go back to the first place you camped, spell out 200 with rocks or twigs, and take a picture/selfie with the “200”.

When we were lads, my Dad would drive us up to the Adirondack Mts. in Western NY in the winter and we’d snow shoe in and climb Mt. Marcy. Mt. Marcy is near Lake Placid. On the drive back home Dad would always stop and get us a chocolate milkshake. We did this for many years and forms a favorite part of my memory. These outdoor adventures are my favorite memories of him. Cool that you’re doing that with your son too.

Yes, plan a special camping trip.

I like that idea, it was at a semi-local county park... As long as there are no fire restrictions!!! And prefer no chance of rain!!!

    Thanks
