Just got back from a very nice weekend at Baker's Acres www.bakersacres.com

The biggest problem was that everything was dirt. Dirt roads, dirt sites, dit, dirt, dirt....we'd shower at the bathouse at night and wake up in the morning to find we were almost as dirty just from the short walk back to our site. And thank God for the shower in the PUP, it helped keep the kids cleaner. Lots of seasonals including some who don't know or don't care what "quiet hours" are. Bath house near the pool area was nicer, but always crowded and the other bath house needs some updating.

If you can deal with the dirt and don't need to spend alot of time in the bathrooms and showers, this campground is decent. The staff are very nice, the store is well stocked. The play area for kids is good and the pools are very nice, although cold (brrr...) We were in site 11 and that was huge...very wide and deep and surrounded by trees.

With 3 kids under 6, I might not rush back here just because of the dirt. It was like sand and dirt mixed up and very soft...some of the roads were like walking on a beach. Best thing was the heavy rain on our way home that washed all the dirt off! Nice campground, just dirty.

Thanks for the reveiw. I have looked at them for a visit but for some reason or another we decided against it. I will have to go back and take a look at their website and see what it was. I think a lot of campgrounds in NJ are dirt. We stay at Blueberry Hill in Port Republic and it is like that. We have also stayed at both Outdoor world campgrounds with friends and they are like that as well. Maybe it is because you are so close to the shore.

Just returned from a 7 night stay at Bakers Acres. Clean & quiet campground close to (Rt 9 to RT 72, 30 minutes) access to Long Beach Island. We had friends staying on the island, so we would travel to their rental and spend the day. CG was not full as it was early in the season yet. Had a level & wide site (76) with close access to the pool, laundry, bath house and store. Driveways more sand than dirt, with some being partially paved. The seasonal site potluck was Sat eve, and though it got louder, it was never annoying and we were right across the road from the pavillion. Quiet time from 11 PM to 8:30 am and never had an issue with noise. (The loudest thing in the CG was the annoying game room, which for some reason was left on all night at the beginning of our stay. Turned off later in the week, so no complaints there) Definately would recommend and would return!

Thanks for the review. We have begun looking for next summer. Any ideas/comments on the cabins? We have friends that would go, but they don't have a camper. Already know that path's will be sandy. The shade is what attracts me.

I apologize for not posting earlier. Have been working 7 days a week on sandy cleanup projects. Still am! Campground was great. A lot of activities for the Kia and they loves the trick or treating. Some sites were amazing. Everyone was friendly. We will definitely return!!

Just booked Columbus Day weekend. It's not the best decorated site weekend but I can squeeze another day in if I go on Columbus Day weekend. The dirt doesn't bother me since we can wash the kids feet in the pups shower. Everyone we met there was really nice, even the seasonal campers. Best thing is it is close to home so if something happens with the kids we can go back and forth if need be
