We got back late yesterday from which will likely be our last camp advenutre of the season. We traveled west to camp in the parking lot of the Norwich mine, Ontonagon MI. The NFS has a interpretative hike there and we stayed right in its parking lot and hiked from it. Here is some information about this copper mine which was in the 1846 to civil war (very roughly) time frame. I'll post photos as soon as they are processed.

Sorry for the slow postings but day 1 was just added to the dogs blog. There were so many photos taken that weekend, we had to split it into two days. The 2nd day will be up shortly.. Here is a sampling of them. Ya, it was a pretty fall weekend there. We'll chat with the FS about cleaning up this trail next summer. It needs some love'n.

On our last trip to Copper Harbor I visited the nearby copper mine. There was a $10 admission as I recall and the operator didn't take credit or debit cards. She told me to take the tour, handed me a business card, and said, "just mail me a check." I wondered how often that happened and how many actually mailed a check. I mailed the check and enclosed a thank you.

If you went underground, that would be the mine. Our buddy is the ground manager.

Our dear camper was put into storage over the weekend. [:!] We're heading for a camp-n-cabins this week in the Porkies state park which is near us. If anyone would care to hear about that, just let us know. Of course, photos from that will be posted on the dogs blog.
