Just got my new to me pop out (HTT) and want to start close to home. I live in Northwest LA. Any suggestions or ideas on campgrounds within my area, I would love to hear about. The only requirement must have a swimming area. My 9 year old niece is a water baby! Thanks in advance.....The Traveling Teepee....

Not sure exactly where in Northwest LA you are located, but Atlanta State Park in Atlanta TX might be a good choice.

Here is a link to the Atlanta State Park web page:

For reference, Atlanta State Park is about 68 miles from Shreveport, LA

TX_F2 thanks for the info, Texas State Parks seem to have a good fee, and I checked out several including Martin Creek.

There are a number of state parks in the east Texas area. You may want to check out Tyler State park as it is not far off I-20.

Here is a suggestion, Northeastern Texas. I'm not sure I'd swim there though! [:D]
