Ok, so officially, I voted for Bass Lake, partly/mostly because it's probably 1 1/2 hour drive closer to me than 6 mile. Hope the swimming is good. Looks like a nice lake, maybe get some fishing in.

Actually both bass lake and 6 mile are both probably the same distance for you.

Just checking some maps out on them, you're not too far off. Bass Lake is closer by 40 kms and about a half an hour. They look farther apart than that on the map. Maybe I should change my vote to 6 mile....

I haven’t been to Bass Lake—or Six Mile, for that matter—since the 60s; so I have no recent personal experience to offer. I do, however, have this info from the Bass Lake website:

Hilltop loop is split btwn RV/trailer sites and unserviced tent sites (as indicated on the map). From the satellite photo, the visible RV sites seem to be well-worn. There are 2 vault toilets.
Eastside loop is comprised of all RV/trailer sites. From the photo, the sites seem to be larger than those in Hilltop. There is one vault toilet.
Both loops have access to the Comfort Station, provided that is not closed due to Covid.

Note to Gary: There is only the one beach, but the website mentions that there is good bass fishing. :)

I suspect that Bass Lake will be booked quicker than Six Mile due it’s proximity to the GTA, Barrie, and Orillia. We know that others will definitely be booking through from the previous weekend in order to guarantee their campsite.

Hilltop isn't too bad. Has some sites that we'd definitely fit on. 107 we could fit on. 104 and 119 as well.

Eastside is larger and has nicer sites. Will be more popular so we will need to be on the ball, if we choose this campground.

From the looks of things, you may end up having two ‘annual’ shovelling of the roof events this year. I’m out clearly off my Aliner shelter every day or two.

Sort of planning on having to do two events... Hoping it will be easier and quicker then just doing once..

I had a look at Bass Lake bookings....looks like many have done the 21 day TANGO, but quite a few sites are still available from the 13th or 14th onwards. Since today is only the 12th, we will have to keep an eye on it as we get closer to the end of the month, to see what sites will be scooped up towards our Rally weekend.
If sites continue to go this quickly, regardless of Ontario Parks reinstating the cancellation fees, I'm willing to travel a little further north to 6 Mile PP.
