We need to get a mat for the pup, and I know many have talked about the dog mat or pet mats??? Last night we were at a local farm supply store and saw 'horse stall' mats. They were about 6 x 8, I think, and wondered if these wouldnt work. It is really thick and I know the Ks winds couldnt blow it away. Since we are leaving the camper at one spot, and the mat doesnt roll up, I was thinking this might work. Any one with horses, have any thoughts? The dog and pet mats as well as the advertised RV mats usually are made of a woven nylon material that won't hold the water like a rug or artificial turf mat might. If it is thick you should look closely at it to see if it looks like it would hold water. There's nothing worse than trying to rollup a wet rug. It then drains for days. Was it at Orscelans or Tractor Supply? My only thought is if it's really thick, it might be hard to roll/fold up and would that make carrying it difficult? Toby ('74), Shannon ('72), Emily ('95) & Hunter ('99) & Cooper, the Chocolate Lab ('06) 2007 Nights Camping: 2 '99 Dodge Dakota (His) '98 Ford Expedition (Hers) '87 Coleman Sun Valley http://community.webshots.com/user/thebachtells
could lay it flat in a pick up bed if thats what you tow with . if its stayin in one place for the summer the camper i meen should be ok i would think. i have used the horse matts here at the house infront of the shed and it hasnt blown away yet . a rainy weekend camping is better than a rainy weekend with the inlaws.
DonJacki- Does it absorb the water when it rains? Sherry and John How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://community.webshots.com/album/551913543hkZMwX '88 Jayco Thrush Deluxe
We have access to a truck for taking stuff up to the site, so it would lay flat in the bed of it. Hey Sherry and John, We got ours from Costco, the nylon woven type. It rolls up very nice and just bungies to the bumper. Also, I've seen where some people get a grommet kit and grommet the corners. Then you can stake them down. Also, you can add a grommet where your awning poles go. Ours was actualy advertised for indoor/outdoor and had a picture of it being used with an RV. I heard Home Depot had them also. '69 Ben, '67 Paula '99 Nick, '01 Chris '01 Landrover Discovery '07 Forest River Flagstaff 227 http://web.mac.com/williamsmaster/iWeb/Site
I found one but it is a smaller version. It is only a 4' X 6' for only $20. http://www.collectionsetc.com/Item16597.aspx# We have a larger one and really like it especially at the beach beacuse the sand will go right through it and not be tracked into the PU. sherry and john . no it is the rubber mat i use . so it can be sweapt off and no prob as of yet . a rainy weekend camping is better than a rainy weekend with the inlaws.
We got the horse stall mat and although it was akward to carry (it does roll, but its heavy) it is going to work out great. Its going to be very durable. I dont think I would suggest this for those traveling all over to camp. But since we are staying in one spot it is great. thanks for all the input Sherry and John "Old Folks with an Old Jayco" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://community.webshots.com/album/551913543hkZMwX '88 Jayco Thrush Deluxe
your very welcome .. if a tree falls in the forest, and your at work how do you know it made noise.go campin more often you will hear it..
We just got one of these and think it will work out great: http://www.rvawningmats.com/index.html It's a plastic woven type, so that it will not soak up water & it will dry quickly. We also got a bag to keep it in, so we don't have to bungee it to the bumper. We were going to get a piece of astroturf, glad we didn't. What size do people normally get. I have just ordered an 8' awing for my coleman. Do I go with a 6 X 9 or a 9 X 12? 6x8 indoor/outdoor carpet [email protected] Menards. I picked up two today. The last time we camped it poured rain all weekend and we ended up leaving our carpet in the dumpster at the campground. Now I have twice the carpet area for our daughter to play on. Thanks to all. I didn't think about the rain soaking the rug, and then being too heavy. Not to mention, dumpster material. I plan to look around, and price in my area.
We bought an indoor/outdoor at menards (11.95 though). It got soaked on one weekend, so I layed it out in the yard at home to dry. It rained for 5-days, so I draped it over the lawn chairs. Even if you get one that drains the water, you still can't pack it up if it is raining, and not dry it out later. It will just dry quicker. We forgot to pack it up on our Labor Day trip. UUUGGHHH. I couldn't keep ahead of the pine needles inside. I now consider it a MUST HAVE in our gear list. DH '69, DW '68, DS '03, DD '05 2006 Subaru Tribeca 2007 Viking 2470ST Nights camping 2007-15
We use a 6x8 indoor outdoor carpet from home depot. It works great and we just role it up and bungee it to the back bumper of the camper when it is time to pack up. If it is wet just drape it over the fence to dry. Happy Camping! '05 Silverado TV '03 Skamper PU Grand Prairie, TX
