We signed up this year for "Fall Fling" at our campground which is an extended reservation at one campsite. We get 7 consecutive weekends from Labor Day weekend thru to Columbus Day at one campsite and we get to leave our camper on site (kind of like a mini seasonal). We have been going back and forth about leaving our PUP set up for the duration (only packing away the awning) or packing it up at the end of each weekend. Other than the security factor (which I'm not too worried about at our campground), does anyone see any issues with leaving it up the whole time? What would you do?
Where is this campground? Will there be a lot of sun, trees, birds, wind, rain, etc. If security is not an issue, I'd still worry about something happening to the canvas, roof, etc., so would probably want to close it up when not there for an extended period. It shouldn't take too long to set back up b/c you're not having to park it and level it. I would also turn off the water and unplug the electric.
Agreed, ive left mine up in some pretty bad weather in my yard. But last month a micro burst came through. I was lucky to be able to get the pup down in time. Trees all over the place , etc. The pup would have been torn to shreads.
Double agreed. I’d be really nervous not being on site, strictly for weather reasons. On another note, that sounds like a pretty cool program at that campground!
I would cover with a tarp and leave it up the whole time. Close all the windows and shut off the water.
When I had a canvas sided popup, I left it open in a river campsite all summer. It had a lot of mildew as a result of the high morning humidity. I was able to get most of it off, but I wouldn't do it again.
The OP unfortunately hasn't told just which popup he has but some manufacturers, notably Fleetwood, warn to not operate the lift system with the stabilizers deployed as doing so could inadvertently torque the trailer frame. The OP would be wise to check his owner's manual for any reference to this issue.
