I have an 84 Coleman Sun Valley with a mod. FA7920 furnace. My problem is that the furnace starts making a loud popping noise after it has been running for awhile. It sounds like gun shots pop ,pop pop. It some times gets louder as the furnace runs. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be and can I fix it myself. I really don't want to get raped by these service techs.

I would not use it until it's checked out. I could be a gas leak igniting in a pocket some where.

It does not sound good, I would take it to someone that knows LP. If as described tombiasi it could be life threatening and not worth taking a chance.
