So I turned in my vacation request this week for September, the whole month.

I may head up to Minnesota from Pennsylvania to see some relatives. Then West across ND, MT, WY, ID, and maybe finally get out to the PNW. I keep trying to get out to Astoria OR to complete my Lewis & Clark travels. Maybe this will be the year (I'm running out of time). Then down to California and cross over the Donner Pass, start heading Southeast to eventually cross NM, TX, OK, AR, before turning Northeast to get home.

Sounds like another long trip. I may need more than four weeks.

That's a slippery slope...
Last winter I put in for two weeks vacation in early July. That's when we have historically taken our vacation in the fiberglass trailer. Those two weeks were approved.
Then, in the spring of last year, I found out about a likely once-in-a-lifetime event in S.D. for late July, immediately following the return from our joint early July vacation. I let work know that I'd be taking the last two weeks of July off as well, therefore taking the full month, with the second two weeks as unpaid time off. I also made sure they understood that if my job was still there for me in August when I got back, that was fine, but if not, that was fine with me as well.

The trick is that I don't put in vacation requests, I put in vacation NOTIFICATIONS.

Was great to meet you too. Taking a Northern route this time on the outbound trip and Southern on the way back. So I won't be passing through Omaha this time.
