Just putting a feeler out. How many would be interested in a rally in the thousand Islands. I was thinking Labour day weekend at Ivy Lea, but any other suggestions are welcome!
We would possibly be on board with something like this. My wife and I like to stick to PP's. How would Charleston Lake Provincial Park sound? We are currently looking for a park for that weekend. We camp with another couple but I'm sure they would be interested as well.
Those St. Lawrence Parks while different from pp's are really nice parks.. I can't confirm anything past July 1st right now. ..
I've only ever gone to PP as well, but after reading up on Ivy Lea, it seems to be a great choice. I have heard that there can be some noise from the bridge, but it doesn't seem to be that big of a concern for most. An idea that was presented as well is to have it state side, but with the exchange rate and the fact that not everyone has a passport I would prefer to have it north of the border. Different in which sense? Just curious.
I haven’t camped there, but I think Ivy Lea would be a great option for an Eastern Ontario Rally. Perhaps some of our American friends could attend as well, since it is just over the border. http://www.stlawrenceparks.com/camping/campgrounds/ivy-lea-campground/ I’ve heard good things re Charleston Lake PP as well, but have not been there either.
This looks like a rally we could attend. We usually camp that weekend at my in-laws camp in Redwood, NY (they have their camp associations end of the year picnic that weekend). This would be our first rally, which my dh and I have been looking to do for awhile now.
Thats a great looking park (Charleston Lake). Ivy Lea looks a little sketch with the Golden Gate Bridge going right through the middle of it. I probably wouldn't be able to make it on Labour Day weekend. Strike that, I can't make it that weekend for about 1,000,000 reasons, but would love to go. Fall Fair (I compete in categories), last big ATV weekend of the summer, the Tuesday right after Labour Day has me driving to Smith Falls for a week of fishing with the boys, I need to get the fishing boat home from the cottage for that week of fishing (cottage is near North Bay), Wifey is working this Labour Day weekend and says she probably can't get out of it, ....... 999,999 .....1,000,000.
Are you referring to Ivy Lea KOA? I'm assuming. We camped there 4 years ago, not our fav by a long slide. (if this is the one!) Yes, great for kids and planned activities, but we like pp better...again, just personal opinions, lol. I would definitely be interested in a camping get together in this vicinity though. Keep us posted!
Hi Melissa! No, not the KOA. The Ivy Lea Campground in the St. Lawrence Parks: http://www.stlawrenceparks.com/camping/campgrounds/ivy-lea-campground/
Is the Canadian Labour day weekend the same as the US Labour day weekend? Not sure I want to travel on the US Labour day weekend? Traffic is a witch that weekend.
Yes, Labour Day is the first Monday in September—Sept 3rd this year—for both of our countries. Oops! Chris beat me to it!
We have stayed at Ivy Lea, but many years ago - probably about 16 years ago. Nice little park, but the trucks going over the bridge late at night (thump thump, thump thump going over the bridge expansions and the gearing down) was a real bother for us and I can sleep through almost everything!
Still interested in an Eastern Ontario Rally.....can't say we'd make it Labour Day weekend as we are always busy that weekend at home...and with kids going back to school, I have found it way too busy and hectic. Not my cup-o-tea but many like it. We are heading to Charleston Lake PP this summer; never been and looking forward to it.
What kind of tea is that? Red Rose? Salada? Lancashire? For the record, I get my tea in a can that says Diet Coke on the side.
Thinking we may look at this campground for something next year, probably the KoTS or even The Thanksgiving Gathering.. https://www.cafconnection.ca/Petawawa/Facilities/Black-Bear-Campground.aspx
